Custom-Built 5x114" Copper Shell, featuring copper that is less than 1mm thick, rolled and riveted to make the body of the shell. 10ply custom-built maple re-rings with a hybrid bearing edge, 45 deg inner and a roundover outer. Hand-made by Jordan from Offbeat Drum Co. in Detroit, MI.
This unique shell construction allows for a large surface area of contact between the drum head and the shell for maximum energy transference from the head into the shell, especially at lower tunings/tensions. But it also allows for a very thin, lightweight shell that can resonate freely. The wood rings help add a little bit of warmth and control to the shell, so you're not fighting the pitchy overtones that can be a nuisance in all-metal shells.
This particular snare also features custom-built 10-ply maple hoops. These hoops are cut, sanded, stained and finished. Unlike some other maple hoops that are just kept in a natural finish, these are stained to blend in with the natural patina finish on the shell.
