Welcome to Max Maxwell’s Drum Shop – Where Loud Lives.
Formerly known as The Drummer Superstore, based out of Clarksville IN, the original business served percussionists for over 20 years before closing its doors in 2024. In 2025, professional drummer Max Maxwell stepped in to keep the rhythm alive—reviving the store under a new name, in a new location, and with a new purpose: serving drummers while rebuilding the music community.
With over 50 years behind the kit, Max is a lifelong musician whose passion runs deep. He credits his love of music to his father, locally known drum legend, Marvin Maxwell and the many mentors and musicians who guided him as a young drummer. That spirit of support and mentorship inspired his vision for the store—not just as a place to buy gear, but as a community hub for drummers of all ages and skill levels.
Max comes from a family of music store owners—his family founded and operated Louisville’s iconic Mom’s Music in Louisville, and Max proudly ran the store for many years, building strong relationships with musicians throughout the region. The new Max Maxwell’s Drum Shop also sits right next door to his brother’s music shop, Maxwell’s House of Music, turning the block into a full-blown music mecca. As if running two music stores side by side wasn’t enough, the brothers also share the stage as bandmates in The Crashers—a high-energy party band who play over 50 gigs a year nationwide. (Because apparently, one Maxwell being loud wasn’t enough.)
The former Drummer Superstore was also a major player in the online space offering drum gear to drummers worldwide, and now Max is bringing that back—and making it even better. So whether you visit us in person or shop from your couch across the country, you can count on great gear and top-notch service every time. Whether you’re just picking up your first pair of sticks or you’ve been gigging for decades, you’ll find gear, advice, and good company here.
